Even If You Hire Movers, You Are Required to Move Somethings Yourself

The sheer amount of items in a typical household can make moving day a daunting task for many. Due to the hassle involved, many people opt to hire a moving company to handle the relocation of items. Friends, family and acquaintances are good places to start when trying to find a moving provider. Searching the Internet (i.e. ‘Durham movers‘) can also provide you with a list of companies to research. Although moving providers will transport most household items, there are things that cannot be moved. You will need to arrange your own transportation for the following items, or dispose of them before moving day: Perishable Items: Since moving trucks are not climate-controlled, the transportation of produce and refrigerated foods poses a health risk. Live Animals: You will need to transport your pets with you, or find companies that specialize in the moving of live animals. Plants: Unstable climate conditions in the back of a truck are also too harsh for many plants as well. Hazardous Materials: Most companies will not transport potentially dangerous or flammable household chemicals (i.e. ammonia, liquid bleach, lighter fluid, paint thinner). The same holds true for charcoal, fireworks, batteries, and pressurized items like aerosol cans and propane tanks. Proper disposal of such items is recommended. If you need these items and replacing them is not practical, seek out a hazmat transportation specialist. Firearms: You will have to transport your guns and ammunition yourself, due to multiple insurance and legal concerns.
